About the event

In this workshop, you will learn to make your own Cross-Back Apron. We'll start by drafting the pattern, then you'll construct and sew your apron. There aren't any too-tricky techniques involved, but you must be able to thread up your sewing machine and sew straight and curved lines! You will certainly start with me, but may not complete your apron in the workshop. However, you will be sent a video of the workshop straight afterwards, so if you don't manage to keep up, don't worry! You will be able to continue making at your own pace.

You will need:

- 1.5m Pre-washed Fabric (Calico, Linen, Heavyweight Cotton, Lightweight Denim) *Prepared as per instructions below*

- Thread

- Tape Measure

- Fabric Scissors

- Tailors Chalk or Fabric Pen

- Sewing Machine

- Pins

- Iron

- Ironing Board

PREPARATION:

You should pre-wash your fabric, then give it an iron.

Then cut your fabric ready to draft the pattern:

- Apron: Cut 1x rectangle measuring 100cm x 104cm

- Straps: Cut 2 x rectangles measuring 75cm x 12cm

- Pocket: Cut 1 x rectangle measuring 35cm x 29cm

You must make sure the edges of your rectangles follow the grain of the fabric (the direction of the threads). NB: If you cut the rectangles off-grain, you will end up with an apron which doesn't fall neatly; it'll end up a bit wonky.
